Natural light does what no light fixture can: it makes a room feel bigger, warmer, and more alive. A properly installed skylight in your Tofte home adds daylight to kitchens, bathrooms, hallways, and stairwells that artificial lighting can't match. Tofte Roofing & Maintenance handles the structural framing, waterproofing, and insulation so you get the light without the leak.
Tubular skylights are the alternative for spaces where a full skylight isn't practical โ small bathrooms, closets, interior hallways. A 10-inch or 14-inch dome on the roof captures daylight through a reflective tube that channels it to a ceiling diffuser. Smaller roof penetration, simpler flashing, and effective daylighting in spaces a traditional skylight can't reach.
Our Skylight Installation Process
Skylight Planning
Our estimator visits your Tofte home, inspects the attic framing, and recommends skylight size, type, and placement. We show you product options โ fixed, vented, tubular โ and provide a detailed written estimate.
Curb Construction
Precise opening cut through the roof deck. Structural curb framed between trusses with load-bearing headers. Every cut edge of the sheathing sealed. The curb is the structural foundation โ we don't skimp on the framing.
Weather Barrier
Self-adhering ice-and-water shield on all curb faces. Step flashing along both sides lapped under each shingle course. Head flashing at the top, apron flashing at the bottom. Waterproof sealant at every overlap and transition. The flashing makes or breaks the installation.
Install & Insulate
Skylight seated, sealed, and integrated into the roofline. Interior light shaft insulated with rigid foam. Trim and drywall finished inside. Final inspection from the attic confirms zero gaps, zero daylight showing at flashing joints.

Why Choose Tofte Roofing & Maintenance for Skylight Installation?
Code Compliant
Every skylight installation meets MN building code for structural framing, energy performance, and egress requirements. Permits pulled when required.
Insulated Light Shafts
Every skylight installation includes rigid foam insulation around the light shaft. Uninsulated shafts cause condensation and energy loss. We insulate, vapor-seal, and trim the interior for a finished look.
Leak-Free Guarantee
Every skylight gets ice-and-water shield, step flashing on all four sides, counter-flashing, and sealant at every transition. Verified from inside the attic before we leave. If it leaks, we fix it free.
Structural Curb Framing
We frame a proper structural curb between your rafters with doubled headers. No flimsy brackets or foam shims. The curb carries the skylight load and provides a solid base for the flashing system.
